PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A Pender County man will spend about 35 years in prison for sex crimes against children, according to the District Attorney.
DA Ben David says Danny Strickland, 39, pleaded guilty this week to one count each of first degree sex offense with a child, indecent liberties with a child and crimes against nature.
David says a judge sentenced Strickland to between 27 years four month and 35 years and four months in prison because of aggravating circumstances in the case, including that the victims were under 12 and Strickland used a position of trust to commit the crimes. After his release from prison, Strickland must register as a sex offender with GPS monitoring for life, David says.
Deputies arrested Strickland in January on more than two dozen counts.
