WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Marvin White was charged with armed robbery in connection with the murder of Chinese delivery driver Zehn Bo Liu in June. Now police say he's in trouble again.

After being charged in connection with Liu's murder, White was released on bond. But now, armed robberies over the weekend have landed White back in jail, and left Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous questioning why he was back on the streets at all.

"He was back on the streets, and now we've charged him with two more armed robberies involving a handgun," Evangelous said.

Evangelous said officers arrested White again for two armed robberies over the weekend downtown. Now Evangelous is fired up, saying the police are doing their part to put criminals away and can't understand why repeat offenders like white are back on the streets.

"He's a danger to society," Evangelous said. "He shouldn't be back out on the street, and we don't know what else he's involved in. We're looking at him potentially for some other crimes out there."

Evangelous says he is not sure exactly where the break in the system is, but he thinks the public should be asking questions.

"Aan armed robbery? As far as I'm concerned that's the 'felony murder rule.' I mean if you commit a felony and a death occurs... I don't quite understand it. I think the public should ask why," Evangelous said.

We reached out to District Attorney Ben David today, but he declined to comment.
